The Hit & Run Theatre Co was formed during the summer of 1992 shortly after it’s founder members met during a local production of 'West Side Story’.

Encouraged by each others enthusiasm and the chance to realise personal aspirations Hit & Run soon established themselves as a unique and contemporary alternative to that which local societies were offering.

The initial aim was to produce plays that appealed to their members on a personal level rather than choosing pieces for commercial benefit. The result has been a diverse and sometimes controversial programme.

Over the years Hit & Run has developed a comprehensive group of loyal artistes, crew and followers from throughout Sussex and Surrey. Their reputation for producing shows of consistent quality has led to significant amount of positive local press coverage, plus interest from local businesses and they were voted one of the top five shows at the 2002 Edinburgh festival in the Guardian.

Hit & Run has always endeavoured to encourage new talent both on and off the stage, resulting in the company becoming truly open, with many people gaining new skills in areas previously inaccessible to them. Their belief in nurturing new as well as existing talents within the company enables them to move forward, keeping their approach fresh and ensuring a healthy future.
