Oliver

The Capitol Theatre

6th - 10th February 2007

A Musical packed full of well known songs and interesting characters, plus a large cast of lively children swarming across the stage, eager to receive their daily helping of gruel, is sure to draw an enthusiastic audience.

The film is a hard act to follow, but Hit & Run triumphed yet again last week with Oliver at The Capitol

Joseph O’Connell made an innocent Oliver Twist. Joel Storer as the cheeky Artful Dodger was a delight to watch and Mark O’Connor gave a polished performance as Fagin. His singing of ‘Reviewing the Situation’ was particularly enjoyable.

Jon Hope as Mr Bumble and Heather Kemeys as Widow Corney, revelled in their roles as did Adrian Bowd and Dolena Richmond as the Sowerberrys and Kevin Sharp as a menacing Bill Sykes.

Beautiful cameo performances too came from Howard Collis, Sian Watkins and Sue Harrington.

An outstanding performance came from Kelly O’Haire as Nancy. She displayed great confidence in her role and her singing of ‘As Long As He Needs Me’ was strong and moving.

The chorus and dancing added to the memorable evening, not to mention the youngsters who all put so much energy into their performances, staying in character every moment they were on stage.

The show was wonderfully supported musically under the direction of Steven Bean, and Fiona Whyte Choreographed with flair.

The Scenery, Costumes and atmospheric lighting all added to people wanting MORE!
